The present and future management of patients requiring anesthesia and surgery, treatment of acute or chronic pain, or provision of expert care for the critically ill, are vitally dependent upon innovative research and training. Extensive research in anesthesia and its related disciplines is an ongoing requirement to continually improve clinical care and patient safety. Through planned giving you and your family can receive benefits while also making invaluable contributions to advancing patient care in these important fields of medicine. Every contribution helps to keeps the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation strong.
As part of your long-term financial planning, a planned gift is a simple way to provide financial support to CARF. Strategic gift planning can increase after-tax income by maximizing tax credits or providing tax relief during a donor’s lifetime.
There are several ways you can plan to make a gift to the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation. The option(s) and timing you choose depends on your unique circumstances and financial objectives.
The types of gifts you can give are below:
BEQUEST
You can make a gift of cash or property by including CARF as a beneficiary in your will. This is one of the simplest Planned Giving options to arrange and it can significantly reduce the tax paid by your estate. A bequest can be deferred or immediate and they provide donors with full control of their assets during life.
LIFE INSURANCE
You can make a gift larger than you might think otherwise possible by naming CARF as the owner and beneficiary of a new or existing life insurance policy. A tax receipt will be issued for the “Fair Market Value” of the policy and tax receipts will be issued to the donor for any future premiums he or she may pay.
CHARITABLE GIFT & INSURED LIFE ANNUITY
A Charitable Gift and Insured Life Annuity will allow you to make a major gift now to CARF, increase your retirement income and preserve your capital for your heirs. This strategy involves three components; (1) a gift to your charity, (2) a prescribed life annuity, and (3) a life insurance policy.
GIFT-IN-KIND
A gift-in-kind is a gift of property such as real estate, securities, artwork, jewelry or collectibles. After an independent appraisal of the property, CARF will issue you a tax receipt.
ENDOWMENT FUND
An endowment fund is a gift that is invested and provides income to support the Canadian Anesthesia Research Foundation. The principal is retained and continues to provide revenue year after year. CARF has a general, unrestricted endowment fund.
